Thanks to Covid, I went straight back to my roots. Growing up in the Green Kalahari, with holidays spent on my grandparents farm in the Boesmanland, I knew how to be self sufficient.

With schools closing the first homeschooling class was planting spinach seedlings, and next, making seedlings.

Mask wearing was made compulsory, forced me back to the sewing machine, something I thought I will never touch again after finishing my studies. Having four children, I chased from one after school activity to the next, always playing catch-up, never in control.

This sudden standstill, guided me back to my hobbies. I remembered that having a big family was always my dream; marrying an intelligent man, entertaining at my home and having a loud, busy house. I had to become quiet, to acknowledge how blessed I am, living the life I dreamt of my entire childhood.

Now, embracing the new normal, I want to help my fellow creative’s to sell the gorgeous stuff they make, create or grow. COVID -19 gave online shops an enormous boost, and I want my community to draw advantage from this as well.
